Established by President on 28 MAY 2004 the Afghanistan Campaign Medal which will be awarded to members of the US uniformed services who serve or have served in Afghanistan or contiguous air space, on or after 24 OCT 2001 and to a date to be determined.

The Army Good Conduct Medal is awarded to recognize exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity during 3 years of continued, active duty, enlisted service (1 year of service during wartime).

The Army Service Ribbon is awarded for successful completion of initial entry training.

The Bronze Star Medal is awarded for heroic or meritorious achievement or service, not involving aerial flight, while engaged in combat against an enemy or while serving in combat with friendly foreign forces.

Established: February 4, 1944

Awarded for active participation in ground or surface combat. The recipient must have a rank of O-6 or below.

Established: February 17, 1969

Awarded for overseas service in operations against terrorists on or after September 11, 2001.

Awarded for domestic service in support of operations against terrorists on or after September 11, 2001.
