The Wisconsin Veterans Museum is proud to offer a variety of gifts and souvenirs, both in our gift shop and online, that pertain to our exhibits. This Metal Earth Eiffel Tower 3D Model Kit is a reflection of one of the many items featured in our current exhibit “Souvenirs of Service: The Things They Kept.” This exhibit features objects that Wisconsinites collected while serving in the armed forces. The items that have been collected from the Civil War era to modern-day, range from artillery shells, Zippo lighters, a mini Eiffel Tower, and everything in between. Each item is presented along with its captivating backstory.
“Chet” Buddish showed a particularly keen interest in iconic souvenir collecting while serving as an artilleryman with the 62nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater. After being wounded by friendly fire, Buddish was transferred to a hospital in France. He took advantage of his time stuck in Parisian traffic in an overcrowded ambulance to ask the driver to get out and purchase an Eiffel Tower statuette for him to bring home.
