This US Army crest patch contains the United States Coat of Arms, which first appeared on The Great Seal of the United States in 1782. Long used on Army buttons and hats, we encounter the US Coat of Arms on a regular basis. It is on the dollar bill and quarter as well. The Arms on the Army crest is full of symbolism. For example the American bald eagle, our national bird has thirteen arrows in its left talon and an olive branch with thirteen leaves in its right. This symbolizes the power of Congress to make war or peace. In its beak is a scroll inscribed with “E Pluribus Unum” (Out of many, one). Next, above its head is a constellation of thirteen stars representing, the United States taking its place amongst the community of nations. Thirteen, in all three cases, reference the original 13 states.
“UNITED STATES ARMY” is stitched in gold in the black outer circle. Black and gold are the official US Army colors. Finally, in 2006, the Army officially switched from this crest to the black and gold Army Star logo.
Also available from us, 3 inch embroidered patches for the other service branches: US Marine Corps patch, US Air Force patch, and US Coast Guard patch.
