About the Wisconsin Veterans Museum
Every purchase from The SHOP helps us at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum fulfill our mission to acknowledge, commemorate, and affirm the role of Wisconsin veterans in the United States of America’s military past and present.
We encourage people of all ages to learn about the contributions of Army veterans who called Wisconsin home including the remarkable story of Pvt. Clayton Slack. Slack, from Plover, WI, who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions while serving with Company D, 124th Machine Gun Battalion, 33rd Division in Europe during World War I. On his own, Slack captured 10 German prisoners and 2 heavy machine guns in battle near Consenvoye, France.
You can use our website to look up objects, archives, oral histories, and more of Wisconsinites who served, from 1848 until today, in all branches of the America Armed Forces. Many important historical events have a connection to Wisconsin and its veterans. If you take the opportunity to explore further on our website, we hope you keep in mind 3 things: Every veteran is a story, Wisconsin was there, and it still matters.
