The story behind the Blend
This blend is named for Operation Coffee founder Sam Floyd’s father, Mike, an Army medic who served during the Vietnam era. After returning to civilian life, Mike became known as “Patches”—a nickname inspired by both his work treating wounds and a pair of patch-covered jeans he wore to a local gathering place.
For Sam, the Patches blend is a tribute to his father’s humility, dedication to family, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others through life’s challenges.

About the Brand
Wisconsin veteran Sam Floyd founded Operation Coffee after returning home from service with the U.S. Marine Corps in Afghanistan. As he worked through the challenges of adjusting to civilian life, Floyd rediscovered the sense of connection that can begin with a conversation over coffee.
Operation Coffee grew from his belief that a quality cup of coffee can bring people together, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities to support veterans. The Wisconsin Veterans Museum selects its coffees for their quality, Wisconsin connection, and meaningful ties to the veteran community.
